Dial-up number changeover for Alliance Link Users

If you have an @alliancelink.com at the end of your username in your dial-up window, disregard this notice.

If you have an @alliancelink.net at the end of your username in your dial-up window, please change it to @alliancelink.com. Please do this even if you have been told that you can use the .net instead of the .com by Alliance Link tech support. Changes have been made and everyone must have @alliancelink.com at the end of their username. After you change @alliancelink.net to @alliancelink.com, you may disregard the rest of this notice.

For all customers who do not have an alliancelink.com or an alliancelink.net at the end of their username in your dial-up connection window (the window that comes up when your computer dials out through your phone line to connect to Alliance Link,) please follow the instructions below. The current connection numbers that you are using, which are used by most of those people local to Alliance phone numbers, will not be available after March 31, 2008.

It is very important that anyone using those connection numbers change them before that time. Below are instructions on how to change your connection number in your computer and a list of new numbers that you can use. You may make the change immediately, these are working numbers already. You DO NOT need to wait until April 1, 2008 to make this change. In fact, you should make the change as soon as possible.

Changing the phone number in Windows Me, Windows 98, or Windows 95

1. Open Internet Explorer, the program used to view web sites. You can connect or work offline, either is fine.
2. Click on Tools at the top of the screen.
3. Left click on Internet Properties.
4. Click on the connection tab at the top of this window.
5. Click on the Settings button to the right of the white box on this screen.
6. Go down to the username box and delete your username (if you will forget what it is, write it down first.) Then retype your username, adding @alliancelink.com to the end of your username so that it looks like username@alliancelink.com.
7. Then click on the Properties button to the right of the username box.
8. Change the phone number to one of the phone number options below, they can be used interchangeably for anyone who is a local phone call to Alliance. If you have *70, in the box before the phone number that is already in there, leave it there and start typing the new phone number after the comma.
9. DO NOT put anything in the area code box, type the area code in with the phone number in the phone number box.
10. There should be NO CHECKMARK in Use dialing rules (or Use Country code and area code.)
11. Click OK, Click OK again, Click OK again.

Changing the phone number in Windows XP

1. Click on the Start button.
2. Open the Control Panel.
3. If you see Switch to Category View in the upper left hand corner, click on that. If you see Switch to Classic View, you are already where you need to be.
4. Look at the icons in the Control Panel, find and click on Internet Options.
5. Click on the connection tab at the top of this window.
6. Click on the Settings button to the right of the white box on this screen.
7. Go down to the username box and delete your username (if you will forget what it is, write it down first.) Then retype your username, adding @alliancelink.com to the end of your username so that it looks like username@alliancelink.com.
8. Then click on the Properties button to the right of the username box.
9. Change the phone number to one of the phone number options below, they can be used interchangeably for anyone who is a local phone call to Alliance. If you have *70, in the box before the phone number that is already in there, leave it there and start typing the new phone number after the comma.

Changing the phone number in Windows Vista

1. Open the Start Menu by clicking the Windows flag button at the lower right of your screen.
2. Look for the Internet Explorer icon, a big blue lower case "e".
3. Right click on the Internet Explorer icon.
4. Left click on Internet Properties.
5. Click on the connection tab at the top of this window.
6. Click on the Settings button to the right of the white box on this screen.
7. Go down to the username box and delete your username (if you will forget what it is, write it down first.) Then retype your username, adding @alliancelink.com to the end of your username so that it looks like username@alliancelink.com.
8. Then click on the Properties button to the right of the username box.
