A - Dialer

1. Double click on My Computer.

2. Double click on Dial Up Networking.

3. Double click on Make New Connection.

4. Where it says ‘Type a name for the computer you are dialing’ type in Alliance Link.

5. Click next.

6. Type 3308294771 if you live around the Alliance area, if you need a different access number please call the us (don’t forget *70, if you have call waiting),
click next, click finish.

7. You should see an icon that says Alliance Link, right click on Alliance Link and left click on properties. Half way down there is a checkmark in a box that says ‘use area code and dialing properties’, remove that checkmark.

7. If the 2nd tab says Server Types click on it, remove the checkmark from the first box that say ‘log onto network’, down at the bottom remove the checkmark from the 1st 2 boxes (Net Bui and IPX) click OK.

9. Right click on Alliance Link, left click on Create Shortcut, click yes to place on your desktop.

B - Internet Properties

1. Click on Start, go up to Settings and select Control Panel.

2. Double click on Internet Options (see bottom of this page if it says Internet).

3. Under the general tab type in www.alliancelink.com for your homepage.

4. Click on the 4th tab, it will say Connections.

5. There are 3 circles at the bottom. Select the 3rd box, it will say 'Always dial my default connection.' Make sure it says Alliance Link (default) up at the top.

6. Click OK, close up the control panel by click the X in the upper right corner.

C - Outlook Express

(If the wizard pops up just start with Step 5)

1. Double click on Outlook Express on your desktop, if there is not icon on the desktop click on Start, go to Programs and click on Outlook Express.

2. Go to tools and select Accounts.

3. Click on the 2nd tab that says Mail.

4. Click on the button that says Add and select Mail.

5. Display Name: Type in whatever you want people to see when you send them an email. Click next.

6. Type in your email address (ex. you@alliancelink.com), click next.

7. It will say my incoming mail sever is a POP3 server.

8. Incoming mail: type in mail.alliancelink.com

9. Outgoing mail: type in mail.alliancelink.com, click next

10. Type in username and password, put checkmark in ‘save password’, clicknext, finish, click close.

11. Close Outlook Express by clicking the X in the upper right hand corner.

D - How To Connect

1. Double click on the Internet Explorer on your desktop.

2. Type in your username and password.

3. Click Connect.

or

1. Double click on Shortcut To Alliance Link.

2. Type in your username and password.

3. Click Connect.

4. After it’s connected they can go to Internet Explorer for the internet or Outlook Express for email.

ALL DONE!!

E - Internet

(If control panel says Internet instead of Internet Options)

1. Type in the name for your homepage (www.alliancelink.com).

2. Click on the 3rd or 4th tab that says Connections.

3. There are 2 circles:

     (1) Connect using modem (put dot here)

     (2) LAN/Network

4. Off to the right click on the button that says ‘settings’.

5. Top of the screen says use an existing dial up connections, click the down arrow to point to Alliance Link.

6. Down at the bottom type in Username and Password. Click OK.

7. Click on the 5th tab that says Programs, Email should say Outlook Express. Click OK, close up control panel and set up email.

Email

1. Double click on Outlook Express on your desktop, if there is not icon on the desktop click on Start, go to Programs and click on Outlook Express.

2. Go to tools and select Accounts.

11. It should say mail.alliancelink.com, next.

12. You have 3 choices:

     (1) Connect using a modem,

     (2) LAN,

     (3) Manually.

Select Modem, next. Put a checkmark in the box that says use an existing dial-up connection. Left click on Alliance. Next, finish, close.

11. Go to Tools, Options. Remove the 1st checkmark (check for new messages every 30 minutes.)

12. Put a checkmark in the 3rd box from the bottom (when starting go directly to my inbox.

13. Select the 2nd tab from the right (says Dial-up), put a dot in ‘do not dial a connection) Click OK, close Outlook Express.

F - Internet Mail

(If you have Internet Mail instead of Outlook Express)

1. Open up Internet Mail, select mail-options-servers.

2. Type in Display Name, next.

3. email address, next.

4. Incoming and Outgoing - mail.alliancelink.com, next.

5. Username/Password, next.

6. 3 Choices:

connect using Modem, LAN, manually. Select Modem.

7. Use a dialing connection - click down arrow to select Alliance Link, next, finish.
