Q. I tried to go to a site and I received an error
message that the site did not have a DNS entry and/or that it could
not be found. What is the problem?
A. This problem usually results from a misspelling of the domain
name; for example, the URL http://www.alliancelin.com
will give you this message because the k is forgotten at the end
of alliancelink. Check the spelling of the text between the http://
and the first / to solve this problem.
If you are sure that you have spelled it correctly, then the server
might not be connected to the Internet or otherwise functional at
this moment. You should try again later.
Q. One site that I know I have been at in the past now doesn't come
up at all. My browser keeps looking for it, but it never comes up.
I know the address is correct, but I can't get there. What is wrong?
A. This happens sometimes to busier sites, especially search engines.
When the servers that run the sites become overloaded, they become
unresponsive, leading to slow loads or even failed loads. Try again
at a less busy time. Evenings are an especially busy time.
