Bryan
Stehura currently serves as director of the Alliance Symphony Big Band
and is an instrumental music teacher in the West Branch
Local School
District . He directs the seventh and
eighth grade bands, has started a new middle school jazz band and
assists with the high school band. Bryan
received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Mount Union
College and his Master of
Music degree from the University
of Akron . Some
of his instructors and mentors include J. Ted Wenger, L. Tim DeStefano,
Gene Milford, Robert Feldbush, and Robert Fleming, all of whom are
well-respected in the world of instrumental music education.
Bryan
has been very active in the world of jazz education having served as
coordinator of the NBC Honors Jazz Ensemble as well as the OMEA
District 8 Honors Jazz Bands. He has worked with some of the world's
finest Jazz musicians including trumpet player/composer Jeff Jarvis,
composer/arranger/trombonist Paul Ferguson of the Cleveland Jazz
Orchestra, as well as internationally acclaimed saxophonist John
Dankworth and New York's
hottest new trumpet phenomenon Sean Jones.
Aside from teaching, Bryan
is also quite active as a trumpet player throughout Stark County
. He is a member of the Canton Federation of Musicians, Canton Concert
Band, Kent Stark Jazz Society, and also serves as principal trumpet in
the Alliance Symphony Orchestra.
