Code of Conduct and Team Rules

"I may be disappointed if I fail,
But, I am doomed if I don't even try."
By Bevery Sills

Rule 1:
No un-sportsmanlike conduct will be tolerated, such as, but not limited to, throwing equipment, profanity, name-calling, fighting, lying, disrespect of another player/cheerleader or coach. This includes both home and away games, as well as practices and scrimmages.

Rule 2:
Fighting will NOT BE TOLERATED. Coaches will have a "no fault" policy in respect to fighting. Which means that whoever is involved in the fight will be disciplined according to the discipline code. Coaches will not determine who was at fault, everyone involved will receive the appropriate disciplinary action.

Rule 3:
Football Players andCheerleaders shall always be honest with coaches, teammates and others. They should never fake injury or sickness to get out of work during practice.

Rule 4:
Players and Cheerleaders shall not engage in disruptive behavior during practice, game or any other team activity. Examples are talking while the coach is talking, horse playing, whining, and disobeying reasonable instructions, etc.

Rule 5:
Player and Cheerleaders must always try to control their temper, refrain from reacting in ange either verbally or physically to any suspected unfairness, injury or insult directed toward our team or us. The proper reaction to these problems is to make the problem known to an adult in charge, coach during practice, or A.D. Please remember that the player who reacts in anger many times is viewed as guilty as the instigator.

Rule 6:
No footballs are permitted at the field during practice or on game day, with the exception of the coach's football or the game ball.

Rule 7:
An injury requiring a child to seek medical attention requires a doctor's release to resume team participation in practice or games. However, the amount of play on game day shall be determined, when possible, by the amount of practice attended the week prior to the game.

Major Disciplinary Action:
..A verbal warning from a coach or coaches, which may or may not be accompanied by a punishment, for example, sitting out of a practice for a time or the remainder of practice, running laps, etc.
..A written warning from a coach, stating the infraction. The warning must be co-signed by the head coach. The parent/guardian must sign this warning before the player will be permitted to continue practice at the next practice or participate in the next game.
..Suspension from the team, normally for one week, but with the time period being in line with the severity of the offense. But IN NO CASE MAY A PLAYER RECEIVE 3 WRITTEN WARNINGS WITHOUT BEING SUSPENDED UPON THE ISSUANCE OF THE THIRD WRITTEN WARNING.
..During this suspension the player may not attend practices, participate in games nor represent the Little Aviators in any way.
..Expulsion from the team for the remainder of the season.

Disciplinary Appeal:
..Verbal Warning: There is no appeal.
..Written Warning: appeal by the parent/guardian to the Head Coach who will hear the appeal in a manner as they see fit. There is no appeal from this decision.
..Suspension or Expulsion: appeal by the parent/guardian to the Head Coach, who will hear the appeal as the head of a panel of three, the other two of whom shall be the President of the Board and the A.D. The decision must be unamimous; there is no further appeal from this decision.

Attendance:
It is the expectation that every player attend all practices. Doctor's excuses are required if a practice is missed due to an illness that requires doctor's care (a release from that doctor may be necessary also.) Two unexcused absences will result in the child not being able to play in the following game; however the player is still required to attend on the sidelines to support their team. Attendance shall be taken at every practice to determine an absenteeism history. This history will determine playing time during the game, but is up to the coach's discretion.

All players will arrive for practice 5 minutes before start time, appropriately dressed and ready to practice.

Parents:
Parents must follow the same rules as the players for respect, un-sportsmanlike conduct, etc. Rude behavior, foul language, disrespects for officials, coaches and other players/cheerleaders or physical/verbal intimidation WILL NOT BE TOLERATED, including verbal, physical and/or emotional abuse of your own child
Parents should explain the rules to their son/daughter to help reinforce and support the decisions of the coaches and officials when any discipline must be used.
Parents must let the coaches run the practice/games. Parents are not permitted to harass any coach and will not be permitted to address discipline concerns during practices, games or in front of players/cheerleaders. The chain of command must be followed to resolve all problems or concerns.
If a parent/guardian has a problem with any decision made by a coach, they must follow the chain of command, without involving any player.
According to the Alliance Little Aviator Bylaws, no parent/guardian is permitted on the playing field unless called on by an official. Parents/guardians must always stay in the designated areas during practice and games.
Each child must have an equipment contract completed and signed by the parent/guardian before any equipment and uniforms are issued. It is the parent/guardian's responsibility to maintain and return the equipment and uniforms in a manner consistent with the contract. Equipment will be issued the second week of practice unless otherwise instructed.
Registration fee is to be paid in full when registering unless other payment arrangements have been made with the Treasurer. If payment arrangements are not adhered to, the team member will be suspended; no practice or playing in the game until the registration is paid in full. Special hardship circumstances should be brought to the A.D.'s attention.
Adults should closely monitor Players during away games. The no fault policy is enforced during our away games. Suspension will occur for fights at away games. One way to deter fights with other teams is to keep players within close proximity of adults. Players should never be unattended for their own safety.
